Sudan will go to the polls on the 11th of April in a historic election,23 years after the last election held in 1986.


Registration Period
From the 1st of November, 2009 until the 27th of December, 2009
The Campaigning Period
The election period shall start from 13 February until 9 April, a period of 56 days.
Voting and Counting
The process of voting, counting of the votes and the announcement of the results shall start from 11 April until 18 April 2010.
Run-Off Election
Should there be no outright winner; second round elections are held to determine a majority winner, but only for the President of the Republic and the President of South Sudan Government.

The voting in the Runoff election shall take place on the 10th of May 2010, followed by the announcement of the results on the 11th of May 2010.
Observing Teams
- The European Union sent an observing team consisting of 50 observers.
- The Arab League sent a team of 50 delegates under the leadership of its envoy in Sudan Mr. Salah Halimah to follow and observe the elections.
Voting Centers
The National Election Commission selected 7 038 Voting Centers for the Northern States, and 3 820 Voting Centers for the Southern States.
