The Following Road Projects are recommended:
Atbara - Haiya Road (275 Km).
Is an important National Road because:-
  • It is the last sector of Khartoum (the Capital)/Atbara/Haiya Road which reduces the distance between Khartoum and Port Sudan ( the NationalPort) on the existing. Khartoum Kassala - Port Sudan Road by about 400 Km.
  • It is considered as a relief road.
  • It is considered as part of the Trans - African Highway connecting East Africa with the West of it.
  • The Road is feasible with the design completed and ready for construction with estimated cost of about 110 Million U.S.D.
The Ring Road (Um Ruwaba - Abu Gibeiha) Road (191 Km)
An Important National Road, Because:-
  • The road was originally designed and partially constructed as gravel secondary road, and the design was reviewed to upgrade the road to the national Road level.
  • It is part of the Ring Road connecting agriculturally rich areas with the National Road Newtrok.
  • The design revision has been completed and the road is ready for construction with estimated cost of 60 Million U.S.D
En Nuhoud - Ed Dein - Niyala Road (436Km).

Is an Important Nationa Road, feasible and under design which is expected to be completed within one Month(Oct 98)>
The Road is considered as part of the the Trans - African Highway and connects Westren Sudan with the National Capital, Port and the rest of Sudan and part of the East / West Axis. The estimated construction Cost is 150 Million U.S.D

Rehabilitation of Gebel Awlia - Ed Dueim Road.(158 Km)

The Road is part of the North / South Axis as well as part of the Trans - African Highway Cairo Gabironi
The Road was contructed with double surface treatment more than 10 years ago nf is now deteriorating. It requires an overlay 7 Cm A.C as well as shoulders treatment
The estimated rehabilitation Cost is about 30 Million U.S.A

En Nuhoud - Um Kadada Road.(230 Km)

This road is aslo a part of the East/West Axis as well as part of the Trans - African Highway. It is feasible and the design is expected to be finalized within one month (Oct 98). The estimated construction cost is about 70 Million U.S.D
